PVA Film for Mold Release and Vacuum Bagging

SOLUBLON® is used as a mold release film for composite parts or sheets of thermoset materials such as sheet molding compound or fiber reinforced polyester.

PVA film is also used in vacuum bagging of fiberglass, carbon fiber and flexible tubing.  Elongation properties of the film allow it to conform to the shape of the carbon fiber, while a vacuum is applied to drive out air pockets.  The part is heated to cure, and the film removed.

The key properties of PVA film are solvent resistance, high strength, high temperature stability and a smooth surface finish.
